Hello, all! Sorry for the prolonged "internet silence", but the summer has been very hectic here. Here's a quick rundown to get you caught up on what I call "The Summer of Crazy: 2010"....
- Lost my job on the first full day of summer (June 22). Great start. :P
- Did a full week of NOTHING. Felt weird, yet somewhat liberating. Spent every day thinking of "what to do next". Still do.
- Ventured out "into the world" to hang out with one of my closest friends. Had fun. Went to a used bookstore and then got then got some ice cream. Nothing like being out in the middle of the day in the Summer time. Made me feel like a kid again. I had a good time and I should make an effort to do it again sometime.
- Finally saw the new "Alice in W onderland" movie. Despite what the critics say, I was surprisingly disappointed. It was not everything I had dreamed it to be. Could have been so much better.
- Finally read "Twilight". Had the book for two years and just now got around to reading it. Promptly saw the movie. Despite what the critics say, I am in love with the story. Currently reading "New Moon" whenever I get the chance. My favorite character is Alice, which leads us to.....
- Got my hair cut off. All of it. Two 14 inch pigtails went to the organization Locks of Love (www.locksoflove.org). The pile of hair in the floor that came off even after that went to help clean up the Gulf oil spill. Two great causes, one great haircut. Seriously, I forgot how much fun it was to have shorter hair. Plus, in the sweltering heat, I don't have to always go out in a pony tail. It is so easy to style that I think I'm going to keep it this way for a while. A big shout-out to Nancy Bartles here in Pegram. She is soooo awesome (and sweet)!
- Finally got around to getting to the eye doctor and getting some new glasses. I don't have pictures of that yet, but I can tell you that my new frames are awesome. The outside of the frames are kind of a purpley-red color, but the inside of the frames are the most gorgeous shade of robin's egg blue. I think that they bring out the blue-ness of my eyes (blue-ness...is that even a word?) and it's nice to look out on the world and see it framed in blue. I promise pictures later so you can see what I mean. The frames are thicker than my other ones, which accommodates my thick lenses, so I didn't have to pay extra to have the lenses slimmed down. I also got some new contacts. It's so nice to be able to see well again and have my eyes feel so great! The only thing bothering them these days are my allergies.
- Dyed my hair after the hair cut. You can see the mile-long roots in the pics I posted. My new short hair was almost entirely my natural color! You know I couldn't stand for that. Had to promptly get back to the fiery-red that everyone knows and loves. I feel much better now. Again, pics of this to come later. I love ya'll, but not enough to show you what I'm like in my "morning face" and ratty pajamas. And yes, it's now the stroke of noon and I'm still in my PJ's. Let's not make an issue of it, ok?
- I've been working on some great ideas for Karma Studio and I'm very excited to be debuting some new items in the shop next week. I've been having so much fun with polymer clay and Swarovski crystals (of course). That's all I'm sayin' for now.
- I'm knitting. TONS. I was recently asked to do some more sample knitting (no pics, top secret) so I'm working on that as well as coming up with my own designs that I am submitting to different venues. More on that later (also top secret stuff) but just know that I finally took the giant leap into designing knitwear and I am having so much fun with it. Ideas are coming to me faster than I can write them down. I wish I had more hands to do more work, but until they come up with that as an upgrade that you can get at your local Wally-World, I will have to settle for working on one project at a time.
Speaking of which, I really need to be putting these hands to work. Like, right now.
